Jovial Monks recipe for hot lemon..guaranteed to help that sore throat

But if you develop a sore throat immediately sucking a Strepsil or three can sometimes ward off a cold.

When gripped by a cold then a hot lemon is good:

Juice 1 lemon
15-30ml spirit (brandy, gin whatever, your choice)
tbsp honey

Put all in tall glass with a handle and fill with boiling water. Sip, finish while drink still hot.

If cold is worse, a steam may help:
biggish bowl
2-3L boiling water top pour into bowl
blanket of big thick towel to put over one's head and you breathe in the steam/vapor coming off the water, really lubricates throat & windpipe.
Resist the temptation to add VapoRub or whatever to the hot water, all we want is the steam to soothe & lubricate sore throat etc.

I meant there is more to wild turkey that just the word turkey..neither word inspires you to go buy a bottle.
