Hetero not exactly sanctifying the institution of marriage now, are they, just look at stats of divorce.

They can already marry in a civil ceremony and are not denied any of the rights that married couples are shown, except for it to be consecrated in a Church.

It's not about 'marriage' per se. It's about control so they can accuse the Church of 'violating their human rights'. Militant lefties attacking organised religion is just a part of their political agenda.
