I always thought that the age of the Mail Order Bride was akin to sexual slavery/prostitution..but in the outback quite a few men due to the shortage of women, pay for these women.,.I have to say a high percentage of this women stay for the obligatory 2 year period etc and then hightail it out of the sham they call a marriage to greener pastures in Australia, or back to country of origin with a nice bank balance and a visa. More often than not fleecing the "lovestruck" man of large amounts of money.

Who is the victim in this setup..the man or the woman..or do they both deserve what they get?

In my area there are so many Phillipino women married to these decrepit elderly men - usually 30 or 40 years older than them. The women are attractive, well dressed, drive nice cars and live in nice homes and usually have children. Surprisingly the children are very attractive and most of the women seem to have been with these blokes for years.They could love their husbands, although it seems unlikely. My guess is that it would be the lifestyle, security and the comfort that keeps them together. A bonus to being married to an older man is by the time he dies off, the wife will still be relatively young and have the opportunity to move on and find someone else more to her taste.

Many of these mail order brides come from poor countries. It suits them to marry an older, financially stable man who usually can't find a woman through any other method than paying for one. If they're lucky they both get what they want and it's not necessarily the male who gets ripped off - the women are sometimes abused pretty badly.
