IT'S a great Aussie tradition but on-tap beers are under threat from the "stay at home" pub.
Tap King is a three-litre keg that sits in the fridge, offering drinkers draught beer at home.
Publicans say a move by the nation's largest brewer to launch a mini keg - allowing drinkers to pour draught beer at home - is the latest blow to their struggling industry and will hurt sales of tap beer. The kegs work with a refill system. After opening, each refill lasts for three weeks before needing to be replaced with a fresh batch.
Six beers will initially be available for the Tap King - Toohey's New, XXXX Gold, James Squire Golden Ale, Toohey's Extra Dry, Hahn Super Dry and James Boag's Premium. Industry sources said the kegs would sell for $33 each, while a branded beer refill will cost up to $28..
Home kegs: doesn't seem like a bargain to me.

Aussie drinks more VB in an hour from a slab than that keg would hold
