Re: Boston marathon bombing
If it was an external terrorist they would have claimed responsibility by now I would have thought.
For all the criticism of the US wonder have those critics in the western world ever considered what our lives would be like today if the USA never existed. I think the US has been responsible for more good than bad in the world when you consider what type of regimes have existed throughout history.
The only thing anyone can do is execute a few terrorist plots to post their message. Terrorism will never work. Hitler tried it with the bombing of London and all that did was create a greater resolve and toughness in the people. The IRA tried it on, the same occured. Attacking the US will increase their resolve. It's just that the US has not had this happen on their shores until 7-11. Experience in other countries is that terrorism has the opposite impact.
As for hoping it is a home grown plot.... that's just criminal. In fact any terrorism is just criminal. Justice will be served. My only hope is that the right people are identified and dealt with. If it is a regime.... well... the consequences could be tragic for the people in that country. The US has learned from the Iraq experience and will not make the same mistake.... hopefully.

These days some groups hold off for weeks b4 claiming or admitting responsibility some never do. I guess that is a way to avoid retribution. If it was an external terrorist they would have claimed responsibility by now I would have thought.

Maybe they need to get to a safe place before the announce their involvement. Trouble is... there are few places in the world where you are safe from the US. Ask the Bin Man

A note about American news sourses,
The New York Post is more like a tabloid, and I think it tends to sensationalize or jump to conclusions prematurely, as compared to the more conservative New York Times.

Boston Seeks Answers in Deadly Blasts
By JOHN ELIGON and MICHAEL COOPER

(from page 1)
BOSTON — Two powerful bombs exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday afternoon, killing three people, including an 8-year-old child, and injuring more than 100, as one of this city’s most cherished rites of spring was transformed from a scene of cheers and sweaty triumph to one of screams and carnage ...
(from page 2)
Officials stressed that they had no suspects in the attack. The Saudi man, who was interviewed at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, had been seen running from the scene of the first explosion, a person briefed on preliminary developments in the investigation said on Monday afternoon. A law enforcement official said later Monday that the man, was in the United States on a student visa and came under scrutiny because of his injuries, his proximity to the blasts and his nationality — but added that he was not known to federal authorities and that his role in the attack, if any, was unclear ...

Re: Boston marathon bombing
Don't you think they incited terror?
If they don't claim they are protecting their arse.
then there is more fear and paranoia because there is no known target.
You other point is also valid.
AQ are one group that doesn't claim these days.

Re: Boston marathon bombing
I suppose an unnamed terrorist organisation would generate more fear... clever.... but then they would at some point need to declare their aims or the bombings have no purpose. If they truly have no political purpose beyond terror... then that would be terrifying indeed.

Perhaps Annie could let us know about those more balanced news organisations like CNN who managed to call it as right wing extremists or NRA being responsible...but everyone else is the 'tabloid'

Was not referring to CNN in my post. Was comparing only the New York Post with the New York Times.

So you agree that CNN is nothing but a tabloid?
