Perhaps you'll feel differently when Abbott and his minions take advantage of this inhibition. Yes - Gillard has been given a hard time by the media - but then Howard had his share also. Some of the articles about him were truly shocking, but we were allowed an insight into his character and ambitions and could decide for ourselves whether we liked the direction he was taking us in.

Do you really believe that this potential new legislation will make one bit of difference to the media moguls especially if the Coalition is returned? We won't have a clue how any government performs, moreso if they're LNP because they're the ones who will mostly benefit from this gag. It's not going to help Labor now.

Times have changed. When that expression....'freedom of the Press'....was coined, the Press consisted of small time honest blokes who started their own weekly sheet to inform people of what was happening. They printed self evident facts to inform people, like 'Custer was wiped out.' As time wore one..............they expressed opinion. From that moment.............they destroyed their self declared and claimed 'freedom,' and invited the very attraction and scrutiny they now are getting.

Why not?

Murdoch and his Mob stalking private phone calls! Dianna killed in the pursuit of the so called 'freedom of the Press.'

Fuck the Press and Murdoch. He knows he is fucked. I will give AM some credit. Years ago.......he predicted where I am now. Social Media will overwhelm and make 'Murdoch' redundant.

BUT........'Social Media' also requires regulation. It cannot be open slather, and if you agree with that, ipso facto, you agree with regulation.

It's time to declare left wingers enemies of the state.

Treacherous leeches who deserve none of the freedom that our society gives them. You should be locked away for the good of society

Aussie is pro-totalitarianism, you only have to get a whiff of the way he moderates elsewhere, to know what he's about.

This kind of power serves to arouse Aussie in ways only his xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx can.

This new media package may be likened to Aussies xxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Your drink driving doesn't affect me one little bit Aussie.

So you are wrong.

We already have a media dominated by LW progressive ideologues and ALP supporters.

It would be interesting to see the RW have control over what they can say wouldn't it. :rofl :rofl :rofl

hell it would be interesting to see them have to tell the truth.

Senator Conroy and Gillard can't handle the truth!
Bet Conroy will exempt the ABC from any media control.
Afterall the ABC is no different to Tokyo Rose and Axis Sally!

It's a decoy, while journalists are rabidly defending their right free speech, to publish as they see fit, they aren't talking/writing about the elephant in the room.
