If the Jesuits today form the largest single religious order of priests and brothers in the Catholic Church, why is Pope Francis 1 the first (apparently) Jesuit to become Pope? What were the other Popes? Obviously , I am am not RC.

They were already talking about this bloke from Argentina being the next Pope just after the last one "resigned". Popes usually stay until they die and this new one is 76? In this day and age he could live until he is 90.

PS. How many languages does he speak?

Really? Who are 'they?' Whoever 'they' are, the MSM obviously never heard from 'them.'

It was hilarious watching the ABC coverage early this morning.

......they were still telling us about how they were waiting 'live' for the announcement and 'yahoo' already had proclaimed the result. The ABC told us the new Pope was Italian and in his 50's and they were trying to discover more. What a farce!

:clap

The ABC reports he is fluent in 'stupid' so you'll readily be able to understand him, Naffy!

I watched it on live stream internet TV today, as it actually took place, all the way from the white smoke appearing at the chimney.

No news channel here in the USA was reporting any names before the moment the cardinal stepped out on the balcony to announce the winner. Not that I know of, anyway.

The official announcement was then followed by the draping of the balcony railing with a papal vestment, and several minutes after that by the crucifer and the new pope himself dressed in white, flanked by cardinals.

Yes......we saw exactly that here. What you did not see was the farcical Australian Broadcasting Commission's 'live' coverage.

I hope he comes in smiling.... when he really discovers the dirty secrets it will not last too long..... if he is really a good man which he appears to be from all reports.

Appearing to be good is part of the job description.

I wonder if he can kick some heads (that sorely need it)?
