And again, this is not this young mans first altercation with police, by his own grandfathers admission.

This up-start has a history for disrespecting police, and at the Mardi Gras, the police just weren't going to put up with it. Nor why should they, they had a duty to maintain order and keep the public safe, why should they be expected to manage the poor behavior of some youth smashed off his face any differently to how they would any other member of the disordered public?

Old enough to be out partying hard and misbehaving in a public place, old enough to accept the consequences for his own actions the way any other member of the public is expected to, gay or not.
