Gillards aged-care deal lets unions in through the back door

Aged-care deal lets unions in with Julia Gillard's $1.2bn salary top-up
AGED-CARE providers will be forced to agree to workplace relations deals to qualify for $1.2 billion in taxpayer cash under a Labor Party reform that could help unions extend their reach across the sector.

Julia Gillard is tipped to make the funding plan a key part of her campaign for support in western Sydney as soon as today, pledging to lift salaries for more than 300,000 workers.
