I wonder if his $126M accounted for the rebates to the states for royalties?

I fear the right is losing the battle for the hearts and minds of the overage punter and the left will be gaining support in the world.

While Labor (=Left) are not crediable im managing an ecconomy anywhere..... people vote for benefits....... so it seems even though there is no way to fund it.

The risks are high and the next 20 years will be interesting.

The article linked above does describe incompetance on the governments part.

Two extract are interesting.

[1] Mr Hockey said that coming after the abandonment of the budget surplus this year, the tax shortfall proved Mr Swan was ''the most incompetent treasurer in Australian history'' and called on him to resign.

He said the government had locked in spending based on revenue that was not available and had ''made promises it cannot pay for''.

Making promises they cannot pay for. Typical Labor.

Also Labor had to be force to disclose the revenue. Out of shame they tried to hide how bad the position is.

[2]The government had argued the tax - which applies only to coal and iron ore after it was watered down from Kevin Rudd's original version when Julia Gillard became prime minister - was paid by so few companies that revealing the total revenue would reveal what individual companies paid.

First part of the above is they watered it down after they stab Rudd in the back. Very silly.

Second part is they lied about it revealing what individual companies had paid.

I don't always agree with IQ but I have to say in everything i read I don't see competence on the fiscal management of Australia Pty Ltd since Labor have been in power this time round.

Was wondering the same thing myself the other day. I'm betting it doesn't take the rebates into account. Hopefully someone will ask.
