New flag proposed for Australia - WTF

A new flag has been proposed in Australia that would incorporate the Union flag and the Aboriginal flag amid a new push to "move on" from the country's British heritage.

Happens every Australia Day... usual suspects; Ray Martin, Janet Holmes a Court, Peter FitzSimons... Ausflag and the usual Red-raggers. Ausflag are supposed to be all inclusive in their search for a new flag... but they aint.

I think it is well-designed but don't expect much support. Like has been said, this story gets kicked up every year. Not to say that one day there would be broad support for a flag change ...

It has certainly happened here in Georgia with the flag changed several times until the Confederate Cross was finally removed.

Isn't that the flag proposed for Sporting Events, like the Commonwealth and Olympic Games?

They aren't still carrying on about the Australian Flag, are they? If we ever become a Republic, it is obvious that the current Aussie flag will possibly need to change ......

We need another referendum to become a Republic and I doubt that will happen in the next 20+ years. I doubt it will bother too many people who post here.

Sure, AiA, but that is the State of Georgia flag you are talking about. Not the Stars and Stripes! I actually could NOT distinguish any of the Australian STATE flags (except I do know all the state "flowers" which I think adorns most of them). So it would be guess work!

Can you imagine the carry on if "somebody" started talking about changing the USA National Flag ... the Stars and Stripes. It would be worse than the Gun Lobbyists demos.
