It could be, except back then there were scientists advocating cooling and guess what... the trend was cooling.

BTW there is no concensus today. How many articles do you want me to post?

ps. I never said; “In the 1970′s all the climate scientists believed an ice age was coming.”
But there were enough to have it repeated time and again in the media.

As for cooling now... how many graphs do you want me to post? Even scientists in the alarmist camp have admitted there has been no significant warming in the last 16 or so years and they are not sure why because according to the models and their theories there should be. If CO2 is the cause and CO2 is increasing then so should the temps. Yet it isn't happening. I've already posted graphs using hadcrut data that confirms this.

I can point to as many articles with a different opinion to those you post Hansen, Gore et al are making a fortune out of this, yet they have had their claims discredited and proven wrong many times. Time for you to look at other sites and get a balanced opinon.

Let's concern ourselves with my original statement which is true. There was no scientific consensus in the 1970s that the Earth was cooling. The idea was popularized by the media and entered into the realm of myth where it remains today. Those who repeat it embarrass themselves.
