Have temperatures fallen? yes
Will temperature ever remain constant? I doubt it.
What is the current trend? Depends where you start and end.
If the trend is cooling when will one be able to say? In about 30 years. Same goes for warming.
Weather is not climate.

Taking 2 abitrary dates... say 1997/98 and 2011/12 the trend would be a cooling one.
Given the scale of temperature differences we are looking at you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the hottest and coldest temps.
So IQS point is basically correct.

Ah, but they're not two arbitrary dates. You picked those dates quite specifically to suit your preconceived conclusions.

Here, I'll quote myself from earlier in the thread as a hint as to why you would pick that "arbitrary" year to compare.

8 out of the top 9 hottest years ever recorded have been this century (which is only 13 years old)... the only anomaly being 1998.

So, basically you've picked out (well, not you personally, that idiot monck probably) two of the top 10 hottest years you could find, compared them, all to suit your conclusion. All people have to do is look at the following graph to see the longer term trends.



All they've got to decide then, is whether they want to feign ignorance, or deal with it.
