Address the bloody facts and accept them or refute them.
Why bother reading any of Akerman's crap. He's only using his blog to vent his hatred of all things which aren't extreme right. As far as his figures go - they're exaggerated - but who could be bothered debating each little individual point. Few people would take him seriously.

I went to the trouble to point them out for you... but as usual like Arsie you refuse to acknowledge the truth.

You refuse to do this in public... fine.

Keep up the good work.

You claim all his figures are exaggerated... then prove it.

You are still playing the man mantra, I'm debating the facts.
There are more people on the Prog Left that are far worse than Akerman, many are members of the Labor Party or the Greens etc, and they get away with blue murder. no one side is pure of heart and motive mantra. That is why you have to read everything and debate the Fcuking facts.

It seams... the Roach has gone to a fair amount of trouble here Mantra.
Ok, can you perhaps dispute one 'said' fact, if you are strapped for time?

I'm not normally a fan of extreme right or left journalists, editors, though with all due respect, I think Piers Akerman is right on the mark with respects to his figures concerning that of the ALP's squandering, as unpalatable as this may be for the rabid far left.

Now Mantra, you claim Piers Akerman's figures are exaggerated, therefore the onus is on you to demonstrate how/why.
If not, then you must concede defeat I'm afraid.

Electricity is a state issue - as is health and education. Barry O'Farrell, NSW Liberal premier - presided over electricity, health and education for most of this time and he's cut the health and education funding alarmingly. No doubt all these costs will rise even further.

Mantra, first ask yourself why electricity prices have risen to begin with, then ask yourself, is it really just a "state" government issue afterall?

Finally, ask yourself if you yourself can in fact afford another term under a Labor government.

If the answer to this is yes, then you must be better off than most of us.

:roll

If the answer is no, then If I were you I would secretly vote Liberal, don't worry, noone has to know, when it's come down to a mater of survival afterall.

Well good for you for being able to pick the refutable one mantra.
Unfortunately you are wrong. But it was worth the attempt.

oh look a report to back me up...
Electricity prices in parts of Australia have increased at nearly four times the rate of inflation over the last 5 years according to new research released today.
New analysis of Australian Bureau of Statistics data, by the free market think tank the Institute of Public Affairs, reveals the increase in electricity prices in capital cities between 2005 and 2010:

Sydney 61.3%
Melbourne 56.8%
Brisbane 50.7%
Canberra 45.9%
Darwin 35.9%
Perth 35.8%
Adelaide 16.0%
Increase in consumer prices between 2005 and 2010: 16%
(Source: ABS, Catalogue number 6401.0)
Julie Novak, IPA Research Fellow said, 'Given that the typical household has a power bill of $1,000 it's no surprise families are suffering under the weight of rising living costs.'

'Australia has abundant sources of energy, but we are paying far too much for electricity. The blame rests firmly with state and federal governments. Renewable energy initiatives are hurting families because they push up the price of electricity.'

'Other reasons for these price increases include the fact that state governments have underinvested in electricity generation. In addition, energy companies are reluctant to make new capital investments because of uncertainty about carbon emission reduction schemes.'

'These prices rises are just the beginning. The introduction of a carbon tax is likely to cause electricity prices to at least double,' Ms Novak said.
Now how about you try refuting something on facts.
Pick another one.

Or you can start another topic on the issue you picked and I and others will be only too happy to provide real information that will unfortunately take apart your assumptions and claims.

Are you saying that electricity, education and health aren't state issues and they're not controlled by the state government?

Yes or no?

Seriously - what is the point of debating anything with those from the right of politics. You are so blinkered you can't see the wood for the trees. Akerman is being deliberately misleading (what's new?) and his little flock implicitly believe him. No surprise he has no credibility.

Mantra, it would seem you have failed to understand the dynamics of how state governments are directly effected by Federal governments policies and legislation.

And especially so when it comes to soaring energy prices.

Or more of an independent free-market think-tank these days?
