Do you honestly believe that, if Gillard had told the Greens to stick their carbon tax up their hemp-infested arseholes, that they would have given their support to Tony Abbott? Gimme a fucking break! Gillard did not have to break her carbon tax promise to please the Greens. She could have murdered all their first born children and they still would have preferenced the ALP.
Easy for you to say, but then again, you weren't there 'in the kitchen.'
She was.

The Greens have been advocating a carbon tax for a long time. Brown would have stuck to his guns when forming government with Labor. It's obvious that it was a condition. It would have not mattered to him if they didn't form government with either Gillard or Abbott. Gillard was desperate and she acted quickly hoping she would sort out the electorate a bit later.

No Aussie, they were never going to support the Coalition. Milne, Brown, Hanson-Young, among others, have openly stated their opposition to Abbott. It was never going to happen and, if Gillard had a pair, she would have called their bluff. She didn't and she would have been intelligent enough to know what was going on.

I'll repeat - they were never going to support the Coalition under Abbott. Gillard should have stood her ground. She didn't and now she is damaged goods because of it.

I agree that she should have stood her ground, but the Greens had approached the Liberals on more than one occasion for preferences.

Whatever, Ladies....I'll just point to the success of Gillard's 'minority' Government over a vast range of pieces of Legislation....and contrast that with what can only be conjecture. Abbott offered his 'arse.' I guess those who held all the aces at the time thought they'd rather not enter in to a 'deal' of such national importance with someone so pathetic, and shallow.
Gillard should have stood her ground. She didn't and now she is damaged goods because of it.
No, she is not. She emerges as a Champion of Getting Things Done, and if you want evidence....it is self evident. She is still there with an impressive Legislative record. We will never know how successful Abbott's 'arse selling' Government would have been.

She is a champion of getting things done that the majority don't like and don't want...and she did it by lying.
You'll have her to thank for the decades you ALP pricks spend in the wilderness.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I'm referring to her standing among voters which is what matters at election time. Voters won't remember her legislative record but they'll remember her 'carbon tax promise'. She was once one of the most popular MPs in Australia and a real strong performer. Now.........meh. That's the legacy of the Greens and, boy, they can't stop boasting to us with their smug smiles about how they shitted on democracy and held our scaredy-cat PM to ransom.

Her
'standing' 'among voters' is going quite okay, Wog.

There is absolutely no way that The Greens would have formed government with Abbott.
They have made statements often enough in the past on any number of policies that they would not work with the Liberals.
No one apart from rusted-ons like Arsie appreciate anything Gillard and Rudd have "gotten done"... if Gillard hadn't said THERE WILL BE NO CARBON TAX UNDER A GOVERNMENT I LEAD... there would have been no Labor government.
