Excuse me? I'd expect even the dumbest Australian would by now know this to be fact it has been mentioned in the media so many times.

Google it yourself. Aussie.

Mantra, it's a fact that when Work Choices legislation was before the High Court all the Labor states ran dead.
Rather it was Tony Abbott and Kevin Andrews who opposed the legislation right from the beginning.

Something about their believing it would interfere with family values, or some such other.

Yet, Labor die-hards continue flogging this dead and buried horse, all the way to the polls, election after election.

And why?

Because thats all they have on the coalition, 'fearmongering' oh, apart from spreading their other vicious lie about Abbott being misogynous.

Labor are desperate, and they know that the truth of the matter is they are what will be dead and buried come next election. 8-)

Perhaps we should start judging Gillard in accordance with Paul Keatings legislation?

Mantra, would you like to know what Australians thought of Paul Keating?

Read the following article then read the comments at the bottom.

Howard's spending created a welfare-addicted middle class who kept voting for him until Rudd the Dudd promised to shower them with more welfare and a Harvey Norman gift voucher. When the money pit began to dry up, we started the feel the effects of pampering those who didn't need it. Essential services didn't exactly benefit from this great spending era. Not a Howard Hater by any means and I do believe Abbott will be a more responsible spender but now we have people earning $100, 000 per year with their hands in the government cookie jar. No wonder boat people are flooding our shores.

What welfare addicted middle class?
Just what welfare benefits do you think someone on $100K gets?

Not so much now since means testing but under Howard they were entitled to full health care rebates, child care rebates, baby bonus, tax benefits, increased private school funding, etc... Don't get me wrong, I liked Howard but his spending should have had better direction.

Why shouldn't they be entitled to
Full health care rebates= Medicare is paid via a % of income. Higher income= higher contribution.
Child care rebates= non discrimination of children. Do you really want the only people in Australia to consider having children to be from low socio-economic backgrounds?
Baby bonus= again non discrimination of children but i agree it should be scrapped for all
Tax benefits= if you pay a higher taxes because you earn more, it figures that you benefit more $ wise on any tax reduction.
Increased private school funding= bullshit. Funding is provided on a per student head basis and private schools cost the govt less than public so saves the taxpayer money

It's called egalitarianism and should be a goal of every society rather than creating govt endorsed classes of people by propping up the dregs at the expense of the productive

They still are ... plus some extra benefits. Females stay at home because they will "lose their benefits" if they go out to work, even part time. Getting hand-outs equal to what an Aged Pensioner gets, when all you have to do is have 3-4 kids (at school) and a husband in full employment. I liked Howard too but this initiative was not a good idea and GALP wouldn't be game to change it, they just add to it, and those on the gravy train have forgotten who actually started it.

.... maybe it is just Canberra where everyone knows what, exactly, they can "claim".

It pisses me off, believe me!

Yes it has - but certainly not in a convincing way. Abbott might make some squawking noises about not bringing it back, but no-one believes him. He has pressure from his own party as well as most businesses and the Business Council of Australia to get rid of the unfair dismissal laws and decrease wages. This is Liberal policy and only the idiots would believe that Workchoices under another name won't be re-introduced.

So why didn't you vote for him in 2007?
