We're overpaying our pollies...

Post by boxy » Tue Jan 01, 2013 9:05 pm

Our Minister for Families says she could live on $245 a week, instead of the $6,321 she actually gets.

Money... mouth... etc. 8-)
From today, thousands of single parents will lose their parenting payments and be moved onto the dole when their youngest child turns eight.

Their payments will be cut by up to $110 a week and the plan is expected to save the Federal Government about $700 million over four years.

The Government insists its changes to welfare payments will get more people into work.

Last year government minister Bill Shorten raised concerns about the low rate of the unemployment payment, and welfare groups want it raised by about $50 a week.

---

Welfare groups have condemned the move but welcomed other changes to family payments.

Low and middle-income families will now get more money to cover education expenses, while fathers and some partners will get two weeks paid parental leave.
So, more middle class welfare.

Ya

It's not peanuts and still they are monkeys.

You need people who care and want to be representatives not money grubbers.

Yeah, that makes sense. Is everyone with a high paying job a money grubber? I don't want a politician who 'cares' or who is good at pretending to care. I want a politician who is honest and gets the job done and is not afraid to tell people to get stuffed along the way. Caring is the last refuge for politicians who fail at that.

What, like every fucking pollie who "cares" for the middle classes (who coincidently are the largest demographic), and throws money at them.

Wake me up when you find a pollie to tell them to get stuffed, please.

Talk about fucking naive freedribbler.

If you payed them more you just get the same sort of people but have to pay them more.
Most are not there because of what they can do for Australia and Australians but because they are party rusted-ons looking for a healthy paycheck.

You won't attract more/better representative by offering money, you'll just get greedier ones.

NOTE they are supposed to be representatives... not dictators.

Why do the laws of economics get turned on their heads when it comes to politicians? Would you suggest we pay doctors a pittance on the grounds that paying them more just gives us greedy incompetent doctors? Why is it any different for the people who run the country? They are managing billions of dollars. It is absurd to skimp on their salary then complain that they are incompetent. The reason we only have party hacks is because no-one else can be bothered. Politics is an unforgiving line of work.

What you believe is rubbish freediver.
We pay politicians more and more than ever before, yet IMO the standard has kept falling, the current bunch being the worst I can remember.

Seems pay increases isn't working.
