I have read accounts of "Internal Labor Party polling" most of which is total rubbish and probably are selective leaks to paint Labor as the underdog even in Brisbane. Picking the election is very very difficult due to Optional Preferential voting, so I will just say that the Borg needs the polling to be 52:48 and he has never had that. Yesterday I put another $10 on Labor to win, so I have $20 riding on it
If I am wrong and the Borg is elected Premier than I pity those in Qld. I much desired upgrade to Cararra football stadium which would create many construction jobs and permanent tourism jobs won't go ahead. A soccer stadium will be built instead. Seems Clive Palmer has a soccer franchise.
The 3% "efficiency" dividend will reduce frontline staff at hospitals, the police force, teachers etc. And the Borg will somehow create smaller class sizes while gutting schools! Health will also be way improved despite thje cutbacks! It will be back to the bad old Joh days. And the city-metro divide in the LNP will cause tensions and disruptions in the 'unified' LNP. Sheepy appears to approve of the 3% cuts, even though he is unhappy Mr Rudd applied a single 2% efficiency cut to DFAT. But then again a sheepbrain is hard to fathom
Of course cutting the size of government in a recession exacerbates that recession. $1Bn a year in cuts, will that even make up for the loss of mining revenue?
A Bligh government re-elected will see infrastructure continue to be built and that will be a good thing. I hope Anna does clean out her cabinet! And sack the dickheads at party office for running such a dull campaign and one which failed to apply the wedge to the papered-over deep cracks between the L and the N in LNP!
My tip, a small but absolute majority for Labor. And I have put my money where my mouth is!
