Greens go after the disaffected ALP vote

Post by IQS.RLOW » Thu Dec 27, 2012 2:25 am

Looks like the Greens have realized this is their one chance to fool the public, pick up the idiot vote and bleed the ALP to reduce them to less than 30% primary

THE Greens are dropping their demands for death duties as part of a new platform of policies aimed at presenting a smaller target to critics in a federal election year.
The platform does not resile from the party's core beliefs and positions, but like the main parties' manifestos it now presents them largely as ''aims'' and ''principles'' with fewer explicit policy measures.
After a year in which Labor figures have attacked the Greens as ''loopy'' and ''extremists'' who ''threaten democracy'', the new platform gives the federal elected MPs - nine senators and one lower house MP - more flexibility in negotiating legislation when holding the balance of power.
But it also makes it harder for opponents to attack or ridicule the party over specific policies.
Most thinking people would recognise this blatant Trojan horse but for conservatives, this is a good thing. It's divide and conquer without having to do a thing
:rofl

Problem is they still have people like Bandt, Sarah Hansen-Young and Christine Milne fronting/representing them. If they don't frighten you away, nothing will.

Political parties have to be opportunistic if they're to survive. I'm not happy with Milne or Hanson Young, although Milne might improve a bit.

Unfortunately for Abbott he's on the nose and now that we can see that the Liberal states are just as bad as their Labor predecessors - it's going to be a close call again next year. The Greens, regardless of the negative publicity from their opponents, are going to ensure that they're a benign and viable alternative to those disillusioned with Labor and the Coalition. It's a good move by Milne.

Abbott Abbott Abbott... good grief.

This what labor thinks of the Greens...
Federal Infrastructure and Transport Minister Anthony Albanese said this year that if the Greens ''stood on their real platform, they would be struggling to get to 3 per cent of the electorate''.

Australian Workers Union national secretary Paul Howes said they were ''loopy'' and were extremists who threatened Australia's democracy.

Of course Anthony Albanese is so respected that his word is gospel - not. No-one cares what he thinks. Labor might just find themselves in the same position as last election and need them again. They should stop badmouthing the Greens.

Wasn't the point was it??????????

This is what Labor thinks of The Greens.

No one wants this sort of government except the Greens. In fact 90% of people probably don't want The Greens based on their primary vote.

10% plus is still OK and enough to make an impact to the government of the day.

The unions aren't in a position to put them down either. Obviously the Greens don't fit into mainstream thinking, but O'Farrell's backflip on coal seam gas mining has disillusioned a lot of people. They might do reasonably well in NSW.

That's a start and the next election is still nearly a year away.

Good grief... It is not a state election.

I don't know about you but i vote on state issues when there is a state election.

or is that normal thinking for the 10% that are terminally confused?

Good for you, but O'Farrell is letting people down quicker than Labor ever did. The Greens support the little people on mining issues, which are encroaching on suburbia and that might be enough to vote for them federally. Mining is also a federal issue - or perhaps you didn't know that.

No - the only terminally confused are those who have no ideals and bounce from one party to the next hoping that the leopards will change their spots.

Support for the Greens plummeted a bit when Bobby Brown retired and Milne and Hanson-Young are not very popular, even among many Greens voters. It's hilarious that Labor MPs openly shit on the Greens yet bow down and kiss their feet come election time. Liberals try it too, of course. I really can't see the Greens achieving the same result they did at the last election, if the recent ACT election is any indication. Bandt will probably get re-elected but will not have any influence.
