So are they preying on kids who play computer games or are they strategically distributing them in a clandestine movement to enlist our youth who can use a game controller in readiness to send them off to China?mantra wrote:These games will come in handy as early adolescent training to help the US military bases currently expanding here. War with China appears to be on the horizon so there will be plenty of violent youth ripe for the pickings when it comes time for recruitment.

Re: Choosing a Gun
Goodness me, Mantra. I like the American Military about as much as you do but who decided on this? It wasn't Howard. Besides they are way up there in the NT where it is hot and dry .... ideal conditions for serving in the ME. The Base has everything that the troops need and more money to throw at "training" so the Aussie troops will benefit too, I presume.
I "predicted" way back in the 90's that China would overtake the USA as a World power. My Yank friends thought I was stupid. However, I can't see the USA trying it on with the Chinese, militarily. They wouldn't dare. Look at what happened when the Yanks ignored the Japanese?

Your point would be what exactly?mantra wrote:You really are ignorant sometimes. No I'm not ignorant anytime mantra. Perhaps you haven't heard that the numbers of US marines have been increasing here for quite a while - not only for shared military exercises in Qld, but as a military presence also in the NT. The bases are Australian in name, but US troops are already established in existing bases. So tell me something I don't know? Like where all those US bases are for instance? hmmm.Rorschach wrote: Where's the fruitloop emoticon?
There are 3 warships in Sydney Harbour this week mantra... Chinese Warships.
Where are all those US bases? Oh right they don't exist.
You don't think the Yanks are considering war with China, but with our help? No... not at the moment or any time soon. This article is from last year, but there are dozens available as you should know. Probably read em already. The Australian Army says the first group of about 250 US Marines that are part of an increased American military presence in South-East Asia will arrive in Darwin in April 2012. 250????? are you serious, not much of an invasion force, last time I heard there were to be 2-3,000 eventually.... still not an invasion force
US president Barack Obama announced late last year in Darwin that America will increase the number of troops, aircraft and ships that will come to the Northern Territory. Good, it'll give Indonesia something to think about as well as the Chinese.
The build-up will see about to 2,500 Marines training in the Territory by 2016-17. Told you

'This is all about the rise of China, the modernisation of the People's Liberation Army and, particularly, it's about the increased vulnerability of US forces in Japan and Guam to the new generation of Chinese missiles,'' said Alan Dupont, the Michael Hintze professor of international security at Sydney University.
''The new Chinese missiles could threaten them in a way they've never been able to before, so the US is starting to reposition them to make them less vulnerable. Australia's 'tyranny of distance' is now a distinct strategic advantage.'' Makes sense doesn't it?
Professor Dupont, a former Australian Defence official and intelligence analyst, said the ''Australian strategic rationale is that we are also hedging against increasing Chinese military power and their capacity to destabilise maritime trade routes. And we want to get closer to the US. makes sense doesn't it?
''There's no doubt at all the Chinese will have serious reservations about this'' No they won't. They will look at it and adjust.
Mr Obama and Ms Gillard are not expected to argue that China is a factor in the decision. ''This is a strong gesture that even in the face of budget constraints, the US reaction to the winding down of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan deployment is not to go home but to pivot'' into the Asia-Pacific, according to the former deputy secretary of state in the Obama administration, Jim Steinberg.

Last time I saw footage of Obama and Gillard together, SHE was not interested in troops .... she would just love to have an American President ( she is only interested in married men) as a notch on her bedhead. What a tart!

So, the NRA has come out all conciliatory... do they smell a change in the air, or is enough finally enough?

Re: Choosing a Gun
On thinking out it.
I had a discussion yesterday where I said it was the POMS fault. The reaction was interesting from my pommies friends. The second amendment was all about have the civilians being armed so no external force could come and invade. After the War of Independance this was a good idea. ou know, we are ready to defend our country from the English overlords. Now, as the US is a superpower, it probably has fulfilled it usefulness to preserve the US' independance and should be reconsidered.
On the other hand, the number of guns makes the US a difficult place to conquer so maybe it's primary objective is being met. A few thousand extra people dying is the cost of an armed to the teath society that cannot be conquered. With the rise of China, it mabe the real deterent inthe future if someone was to consider invading the US. Bo that would be a mess.
Just a thought I shared.

Could you explain that, properly, Bessy? What's the NRA? Why do they smell? What has NRA got to do with choosing a gun?boxy wrote:So, the NRA has come out all conciliatory... do they smell a change in the air, or is enough finally enough?
Seriously, I haven't a clue what that sentence (above) means, unless it is all to do with Footy and then I do know it is nothing and I am definitely not missing out on anything of import.

National Rifle Association. Obama has been taking up the restriction of fully and some semi-automatic weapons (pretty much military type machine guns, aka bushmasters). It seems that the NRA may go along with this, probably in an attempt to safeguard most of their other gun rights.

Here is a bit of what one of my American epals said today
I really detest that black sucker. I'd like to shoot him through the tv myself. His ugly wife too, AND most of his cabinet members and those idiots in the congress. What did we do to deserve those scum? Anyway, guess that kid had a mental problem. There was another school shooting in the works and that got nipped in the bud thanks to a tattle tale student. That was in OK somewhere. Sure does put a damper on Christmas all right.
Straight automatic weapons are already outlawed. Semi-autos are legal. We have plenty of gun laws. They just need more enforcement. That Juan Williams is yakking on Hannity now. I'm beginning to have a fond dislike for that n*gger too. ugh This particular kid looked like someone had shoved a red hot rod up his butt. You would just look at him and come to the conclusion that he is nuts. I don't know what the answer would be.

Sounds like the kid isn't on his lonesome when it comes to mental problems. Tell your friend to expect the FBI any minute. Time to lock'n'load
