Re: Choosing a Gun
Assault rifles hardly seem necessary. Those would go. Handguns that fire 5 bullets a second, gone. This young nutter had a mom as a nutter as well, a woman who hoarded food and weapons for the coming apocalypse

Parents know when they have a lunatic in the house. If you want to keep your lunatic, you do not get to keep your guns. But, this is what the Yanks will do:

The US needs to fund armed protection of schools- simple as that
In the states, they have made learning to drive part of the school-curriculum, now what if say they did something similar with respects to gun licencing and ownership this and made doing a gun-course at school merit based and in accordance with if the student was deemed worthy enough, (of sound mind, mature and responsible) to participate by their school?
Ie,
The schools could sponsor them, the way gun/shooter clubs sponsor their club members in New Zealand.
So in other words, early intervention when it comes to responsible gun-ownership.
Now of course, this doesn't manage the current problems they are having right now with respects to the availability of firearms in America, and the lunatics who already have access to them, but it's a start.
It's one of many initiatives the US government could implement to bring about change for the better.

That is a thing of the past in most if not all school districts here.mellie wrote:

The gun culture in America is well and truly entrenched, so it's too late to roll this back and impose new "Australian style" legislation, but what they can do is target attitudes and educate their nation from where it all begins, in their schools.

We know weve got one in the lodge.Parents know when they have a lunatic in the house.
The cure for that lunatic is in this thread
It's far too late to hold back the tide in the US, the only sane course of action will be to fund armed protective officers on school grounds.
Like the lefty climate change solutions, trying to roll back is expensive and ultimately useless- adaptation is the key to progressive change in established society
Banning full/semi autos will do nothing but push millions of allready available weapons underground. In fact, the mere mention of it will push sales into record territory.
Obama banning guns? Buy stock in gun hardware manufacturers- its a sure fire bet

Perhaps it's time to think things through again, then?
If America once saw fit to make learning to drive part of their school curriculum, then why not gun licences, given more Americans now die due to firearm deaths each year than they do car accidents.

Tell me IQ's ... why on earth would any civilian need a full/semi automatic weapon?IQS.RLOW wrote:We know weve got one in the lodge.Parents know when they have a lunatic in the house.

Yes, these need to be banned.
Noone stands a chance when it comes to military-style weapons. least not 20 kids and their 6 teachers.

No, not always, especially if these parents are lunatics themselves, as is often the case.Parents know when they have a lunatic in the house.
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
The trouble with lunatics is they don't often see themselves as being lunatics.

Not saying they need them, just saying they've got them.
