There seem to be so many mentally ill kids over there who need to make a statement and of course their parents' guns are also easily available.

In retrospect Howard did the right thing when he introduced our gun laws. We could be a lot worse off than we are today, although as IQ pointed out - people are arming themselves with knives. Anything larger than a knife is hard to obtain now. I tried to buy a scythe just recently for hacking bushes - but they're no longer legal to sell.

Re- knives... had this lunatic been armed with a knife, I doubt the death toll would have been as high as it was.
At least with a knife they stood a chance of removing the weapon from the perp, ie wrestling him to the ground and restraining him.

Video games don't massacre people, insane people with firearms do, and I doubt we will ever witness anything close to Americas shooting tragedy's due to there being a lack of 'ready' access to firearms here in Australia and the absence of a distinct gun culture here in this country also.

There is a link between violent video games and actual violence. The US train their marines with virtual games.

My son has a online gaming acquittance (boy aged 17) who lives in America with his father who proudly shows-off his fathers firearm collection via skype regularly.

So who needs 30 guns?

Several passers-by walk on while others stand around, and when one woman gesticulating for help rushes over to the driver of an approaching car, it backs away.

It was ten minutes before another motorist took Yan Zhe to hospital, but the boy died on the way, Xinhua reported.

The accident in eastern Zhejiang province echoed a similar case last year, when a toddler fatally struck by two vehicles lay on the street while at least 18 people walked past.

"This society is completely deformed, there are no words to describe the apathy among people, how long can this kind of China go on?" said one.

Another user posted: "The moral fibre of the Chinese people is trash".
