The family suspects foul play.
British authorities will conduct a post-mortem and an inquest into the mysterious death of Indian nurse Jacintha Saldhana in London, but her family in Karnataka suspects "foul play" and wants an independent inquiry into the tragic episode.
"Jacintha's grieving family is anxiously waiting for the postmortem report and the outcome of the inquest by the Scotland Yard, because they suspect foul play in her tragic death as she was a strong woman and would not have resorted to such an act (suicide)," her family's close friend Ivan D'Souza told IANS Tuesday from Mangalore, about 350 km from Bangalore.

Does the family truly suspect foul play, or is this something to throw us off their own scent?
The husband claimed he wasn't able to contact his wife so became concerned enough to not even bother taking the 2 hour trip by car to London himself preferring to call a friend to knock on his wife's apartment door to see if she was OK?
When this friend didn't get back to him about his wife, he left it at that ... didn't drive to London to see if she was OK., she was found dead the following morning.
I have to say, suicide by method of hanging is unusual for a female, particularly female nurses educated with the finer arts of a more aesthetic 'medicinal' exit.
I will just add hanging is not uncommon for honour killings for family who want to make it look like suicide.

Now we are evolving a more plausable theory.

Lots actually.
We are here by choice.
We expect it.
We are anonymous.
We aren't global.
We don't get publicity.
We don't work for a hospital.
We are not involved with the most famous family on the planet.
Should I go on?

Gee SN that's similar to something I mentioned much earlier.
You think the family snuck into the hospital and killed her? Not plausible to me.
You think maybe the British secret service hung her and made it look like a suicide? Not Plausible to me.
More than likely, the scenario put forward by Gerard Henderson is closer to the truth.
Now that we know there's a note... let's see if they release the contents.

Code of conduct and training are not legal boundaries and as far as i can see none have been crossed.
What would you prefer? Are the media now expected to get permission for broadcasting anything from anybody?
Should they have to ask Obeid before airing a journo shouting questions at him at his latest court appearance on the off chance he decides to off himself?
What about the next Labor politician caught rogering young men? Should any badgering and video by journolists be run by the participant and ask them if it's ok to air?
I understand you don't like the outcome from this incident, no one does.
What I don't understand is what you propose as a solution so you are no longer 'offended' by the outcome

I'd think everyone is unhappy about the outcome IQS.
My thoughts were and are...
"Seriously people this never was a joke and it wasn't the least bit funny. It was just a very stupid thoughtless prank and actions have consequences and now this poor woman is dead."
Where do you disagree with that?
I understand some people may have thought it was funny... I never did. Childish ratbaggery never is in my opinion.
Be that as it may, my opinion remains the same.
What is your solution?
Mine would have been not doing the prank in the first place.
Or
Not putting the prank to air.
BTW I'm not offended.
Not even by the poor judgement that someone at the station thought that it was funny in the first place.
