Re: Global cooling
Deprivation will definitely happen.
The Himalayan glaciers are retreating and these snowfields are the source of seven major rivers including the Ganges, the Yellow River and the Mekong which support some of the densest populations on the planet, something like a quarter of the global population. When these rivers subside significantly there will be the mother and father of all wars fought for ownership of the snowfields, being able to redirect waterflow, etc.
Good idea to encourage family planning in some areas, work to have children born just below replacement level and start a slow reduction in global population otherwise Malthus will have the last laugh.

Re: Global cooling
There is no evidence of cooling mantra, forget that idea.
Be thankful the El Nino that made the NH summer hell has disappeared so waters off the east coast of Australia are a bit cooler not warmer.

And on this planet both are changing all the time.
Oh and weather ain't political unless you are a warming alarmist LW Prog idiot.

What about La Niña ... The "little girl"?

Re: Global cooling
Oh wait... wait.... wait till I catch my breath.
This from the site climate and weather genius. No, there is no La Nina.
La Niña translates from Spanish as "the girl-child". The term "La Niña" has recently become the conventional meteorological label for the opposite of the better known El Niño.
The term La Niña refers to the extensive cooling of the central and eastern Pacific Ocean. In Australia (particularly eastern Australia), La Niña events are associated with increased probability of wetter conditions.
Changes to the atmosphere and ocean circulation during La Niña events include:
* Cooler than normal ocean temperatures across the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean.
* Increased convection or cloudiness over tropical Australia, Papua New-Guinea, and Indonesia.
* Stronger than normal (easterly) trade winds across the Pacific Ocean (but not necessarily in the Australian region).
* High (positive) values of the SOI (Southern Oscillation Index).
A La Niña event is sometimes called an anti-ENSO (anti-El Niño-Southern Oscillation) event.

What do you think broke the El Nino, JM? Or didn't you know?
Don't worry, no one here expects you to apologise or recognise FACTS.
The question is; how many more times will he require factual refutation before he finally admits he is wrong about something?

Re: Global cooling
I thought everyone learned about (ENSO) El Nino and La Nina at school
Re: Global cooling
You misunderstood me, dear troll. I meant there was no La Nina system now.
Now we have a coal seam spewing methane into the atmosphere. I might be alive yet to see the war for control of Himalayan snowfields. It will be bloody with no quarter sought or given as the fate of 4 billion people are at stake.
