Jones was a Fraser staffer. He supports the Libs. His politics are well known. He's not the brightest light on the xmas tree mantra. He's an egotistical loose cannon and at times totally self obsessed and opinionated. You think anyone controls what he says? You going to apologise for what he said? Why not? If you think others should apologise for him, or control him, why not you?

Jones will do and say whatever he likes just like Mike Carlton. You going to apologise for all the s#it he comes out with? I mean you do agree with everything he says don't you?

Just last week Chris Bowen's wife was rather lower than Jones...
He also accused a cabinet minister's wife of an offensive recent comment about him on Twitter. This was a reference to Chris Bowen's wife, Rebecca Mifsud, retweeting: ''Alan Jones age 71. Avergae [sic] lifespan for an Australian male age 79. Patience my pretties #Auspol bahahaha''.
Probably worse wishing for someone's death and rejoicing in it than what Jones implied. You going to apologise for her? Demand Bowen control her better?

Jones is not an asset to the Coalition, he preaches to the already converted. He is not part of a Coalition campaign.

That's why he should be ignored. However, the GALP are so afraid of Tony Abbott that they will jump on anything or anybody to make a noise against him and the Opposition.

I hear that Gillard brought her father's death into Parliament making an announcement before Question Time. That was not the place for family stuff, regardless of who you are. Family should be off limits, regardless.

From Tony Abbott...
Dear
Today I delivered a major address on the Coalition’s plans to improve national productivity and to free up Australian businesses and community groups from the pressures of over-regulation.

It is no accident that red tape is up and Australia’s productivity growth is down.

Since the Rudd-Gillard Government was elected, an additional 20,900 regulations have been introduced while only 104 have been abolished, putting more pressures on small businesses and families, damaging investment and harming our country’s reputation as a place to invest.

Our productivity growth has fallen to just one-third of what it was during the Howard Government.

Improving productivity is the way Australia can lift living standards, pay higher real wages, deliver goods and services at lower costs to families and create a larger economy with more jobs.

Today, I outlined our agenda to cut red tape and free up our economy. We will take immediate action to:

- Cut $1 billion in red tape costs every year
- Repeal Labor’s carbon tax
- Repeal Labor’s mining tax
- Introduce dedicated parliamentary sitting days for the repeal of legislation
- Establish a one-stop shop for environmental approvals
- Introduce mandatory Regulatory Impact Statements for Cabinet consideration

Today, I also affirmed the Coalition’s commitment to restore the budget position and for our country to live within its means, just like families and households do.

This means that going into the next election, in many portfolio areas, the Coalition will not make any new spending announcements. Instead, we will focus on administrative changes to make people’s lives easier. Unlike Labor, we will not over-promise and under-deliver.

The main elements of the Coalition’s economic plan are lower taxes, lower spending, higher productivity and closer engagement with Asia.

This is in strong contrast to Labor, who only have a political strategy and not an economic strategy.

Today’s announcements provide further details of the Coalition’s plan to deliver a strong and prosperous economy and a safe and secure Australia.

Abbott's positive plans on economy
November 3, 2012
Michelle Grattan

IN THE wake of poor polls and internal questioning of his strategy, Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has used a major economic speech to strike a more positive note, trying to counter the government's push on its plans for the future.

Mr Abbott said the Coalition had consulted widely to develop comprehensive policies to improve the nation and he had outlined plans ''for a stronger economy, stronger communities, a cleaner environment, stronger borders and modern infrastructure.'' His economic plan included lower taxes, lower spending, closer engagement with Asia ''and, crucially, higher productivity''.

Mr Abbott has chosen a strong proponent of industrial relations reform, Steve Ciobo - whom he dropped from the frontbench - to chair a Coalition group on productivity.

Victorian Liberals Josh Frydenberg and Dan Tehan will be deputy chairmen.

The opposition has yet to outline its industrial relations policy Nice one Michelle - Labor scare tactic number one  but Mr Abbott has taken a very cautious line. He has previously rebuffed Mr Ciobo and other Liberals who urged a reintroduction of individual contracts. Mr Ciobo declared in August that it was ''lunacy'' that employers and workers could not strike individual agreements. :purple

Julia Gillard seized on Mr Ciobo's appointment, saying he had ''made it absolutely clear … his answer for productivity is bringing back WorkChoices and individual contracts''. :purple She would say that, but she has absolutely NO credibility. We'll just have to wait and see.

Coalition sources stressed the group was about arrangements for implementing policy rather than developing policy. In a statement last night, the group mentioned workplace laws as one of the elements in its upcoming thinking and consultations.

The Title of this Thread lends itself quite well with what seems to be one of Abbott's promises.

This one might actually get him in the shit.
The Australian Federal Police have been asked by the ALP to investigate the alleged offer of a bribe by Opposition Leader Tony Abbott to disgruntled Liberal MP Alex Somlyay if he agreed to leave politics quietly.

Samantha Maiden of News Ltd publication has revealed the complaint and the original yarn that explained Somlyay was telling people about the offer.

Somlyay was recently rumoured to have offered himself as Speaker, in an attempt to succeed his former nemesis and occasional photographic subject Peter Slipper.

When asked on the record about the alleged offer, Somylay won’t deny it but says “I don’t talk about private conversations.” Ominous, especially if he has evidence of it, as some believe or hope.

That's stretching it a bit Arsie.

However, be that as it may... even on The Insiders this morning they agreed it was a POLITICAL STUNT by Labor. pretty bad when your supporters see it for the crap it is. Pretty sad when rusted-on supporters are so desperate they use it to back their personal beliefs up. The presenter even stated it was the type of stunt used in the US and why they now all have legal advisors.

For those who'd rather make up their own mind about what was said during one small segment (2minutes and 6 seconds) of The Insider programme this morning.

Interesting stuff...............Abbott was willing to buy off Somylay for Brough.....and NOT Slipper! Guess he wanted Slipper to remain part of his Team.

Guess he wasn't prepared to offer an unethical poisoned man a plum overseas junket position...

Unlike the ALP where ethical behaviour is not only not required, it is actively discouraged

Guess he wasn't prepared to offer an unethical poisoned man a plum overseas junket position...
Instead, he decided to keep exactly the same man within his Parliamentary Team and voting block.

:D
