A talented head cook at a school in central Sweden has been told to stop baking fresh bread and to cut back on her wide-ranging veggie buffets because it was unfair that students at other schools didn't have access to the unusually tasty offerings.

Annika Eriksson, a lunch lady at school in Falun, was told that her cooking is just too good.

Pupils at the school have become accustomed to feasting on newly baked bread and an assortment of 15 vegetables at lunchtime, but now the good times are over.

The municipality has ordered Eriksson to bring it down a notch since other schools do not receive the same calibre of food - and that is "unfair".

WTF? I don't even know what to say about this crap other than..does she need a job? My wife would hire her.

There is another solution. They could use her as a "Jamie Oliver" and send her around to the other schools to show the workers how to prepare tasty and nutritious food, but unfortunately too many bureacrats, no matter what nationality, don't look further than their noses.

My first job had an in house gourmet cook. She was Swedish. Less than a dozen of us worked there but we were so spoilt. Exotic lunches everyday. Wish I never left

This is crazy. The western world has moved from promoting excellence to bringing everything and everyone to the lowest common denominator.

With this attitude infecting the west, no wonder China is going to kick our arse over the next 20 to 50 years. (Or even nex tyear)

She should be promoted and seen as the school cook that all other schools should aspire to, the new bar to be reached. Instead she has to lower her standard to the normal. The school should tell them to f... off.

But seriously, you can blame this type of shit on overblown bureaucracy, which isn't limited to socialist societies. The real wonders of socialism in the West can be seen in the free public education and health care systems (that AM wouldn't take a bit of notice of, until they are gone).
