I sometimes wonder if you people realize you are sitting at a computer when posting on this forum. 120 million people voted in the last us election, 10 million of them were Hispanic.

Losing the Hispanic vote is like losing 5 states.

For those of you who think President Barack Obama is a muslim, he's not. And he is an American citizen, he was born in Hawaii, a state of the United States.

His father was a muslim from Kenya, but his mother was a white Christian American. He was exposed to Islam as a very young child, but later grew up with his white Christian grandparents in Chicago.

The Obamas are not muslims.

I am also wary of any news sourse associated with Fox News, sorry. Some of you who obviously have the wrong information and the wrong ideas, go look at some American or international news sites, and learn something that is actually the truth about our US President.

My personal belief is that Barack is really an agnostic and doesn't embrace any religion strongly (because he is too smart to believe religious mythology of any kind).

But because American presidents are expected to be Christian, he and his family attend Christian churches. They have visited several churches of various Christian denominations.

But the First Family regularly attend parishes of the Episcopal Diocese in Washington, DC. Many US presidents have embraced Episcopalianism (Anglicanism in the United States).

Here is a popular Episcopal parish across the street from the White House for US Presidents and their families,

Republican operatives were caught in St Augustine Florida telephoning voters telling them that Obama is a Muslim socialist.

Lots of ridiculous things were said about George W Bush as well. Most Average Aussies care less about American politics. They are rather apathetic about Australian politics and we have to vote here (or at least get our name marked off the Electoral Roll).

PS. Do you rely on getting your information from a "Whitehorse Souse"? :rofl

That's not surprising. The RW's are good at scare campaigns and propaganda. Our opposition leader does it all the time here.

I'm well aware you don't like or trust America or Americans, Nef. But after all, I am one of them, and do know something about my country and my government.

I see some misinformation and misunderstanding about the USA posted by folks from other countries. Aussies on these PA forums, of course.

Just trying to sort some facts from rumor-suspicion-false-information about our president here, that's all.

Now here is no surprise. The US will want Assange and I think they should have him if he broke any laws. I'm not sure he has.

WikiLeaks and Julian Assange have been the subject of intelligence exchanges between Australia and the United States for more than two years, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has revealed.

The WikiLeaks publisher was also the subject of Australian intelligence reporting from Washington shortly before he sought political asylum in Ecuador's London embassy.

In a freedom of information decision yesterday, Foreign Affairs confirmed to Fairfax Media the existence of an intelligence report concerning WikiLeaks and Mr Assange cabled to Canberra from Australia's Washington embassy on June 1.
