The government is going to introduce anti-troll and anti-bullying lessons into the school curriculum. A decade ago - we wouldn't have had a clue what a troll was.
This is a result of keyboard bullies trolling on Twitter and a more boring part of social media could not be encountered. A celebrity can bring about change - but children on Facebook who are being tormented by peers have been ignored until now, so perhaps ultimately it will be a good thing. As parents can't protect their children from these sicko's - perhaps some sort of government intervention might help, but it seems the cyber world has gotten out of control.
As there will be increased intervention by the police - how will our overworked force cope with this extra workload? If these social media sites are causing so many problems - they should be shut down if they can't enforce their own online rules. We have enough real crime on the streets without adding cyber bullying to the list.
The Prime Minister's intervention follows a Daily Telegraph campaign to crack down on trolls and stamp out online bullying and schoolyard violence, which resulted in Twitter agreeing to greater co-operation with authorities investigating online abuse.
She agreed that the expansion of anti-bullying classes to include Twitter abuse and other forms of online intimidation was clearly warranted with the rapid rise of social media over the past decade.
She is seeking an assurance from the authority that programs to educate kids about the dangers and responsibilities are included in the national school curriculum.
"Whether it's physical violence or online intimidation, we need to ensure that our kids learn the lesson early in life that this conduct can cause great harm and have real consequences," Ms Gillard said.
"We have seen the damage that can occur as a result of relentless online bullying.
"Through the national curriculum, Australia can make sure that every student in every school knows this behaviour is not on.

So, a couple of celebrities get conveniently trolled, and the government gets to introduce more "safeguards" to protect "real people"?
I think not. More about being able to track online behaviour for more important things than hurt feelings.
"But you will run your fluffy bunny mouth at me. And I will take it, to play poker."

Tis a pity that kids get bullied enough to commit suicide but it takes a 'celebrity' bashing to snap up a response?

We could set up a trolling simulator here at PA for the government. We setup Lisa and Aussie against the school children so they can learn how to defend themselves against evil.
