Re: Iowa Hiho!
Looks like Romney is not doing so well. I have to say this guy fails to impress me. Not that my opinion will count in the US election.
But things had already taken a turn for the worse by last Wednesday. Not only had Mr Romney failed to secure a ''bounce'' from the Republican convention at the end of August, but, in formally introducing himself to the American people, he secured a slump. Only 36 per cent of those who listened to or watched the Republican convention said that it made them more likely to vote for Mr Romney, while 46 per cent said they would be less likely

Yeah, Democrats are gleeful alright but the Republicans are masters of the dirty campaign. Wouldn't surprise me if Romney won.

Geez, is Obama doing so badly that this fool will beat him. When are the TV debates?AiA in Atlanta wrote:Yeah, Democrats are gleeful alright but the Republicans are masters of the dirty campaign. Wouldn't surprise me if Romney won.

Obama isn't doing badly, no, it is Romney that seems to be doing worse and worse but it is still a tight race and in the final days of the race the Republicans will be spending millions in an attempt to smear Obama.

It's going to be harsh for the rest of the planet if Romney wins. Is the US so conservative and extreme that they'd want a mormon controlling their lives and other nations? Romney comes across as having no mercy for anything. The propaganda flowing from the US is bad enough already - but it will get worse if the Republicans get in.
Romney would be worse than Bush, although Tony Abbott might get on with him.

What utter partisan nonsense. This constant catastrophization and demonization of the contrasting political is doing far more damage to the 'rest of the planet' than any moderate conservative would ever do. Romney is the least conservative republican in my memory.mantra wrote:It's going to be harsh for the rest of the planet if Romney wins...

While my vote would be for Obama if I were actually living in America, as a member of the 'rest of the world' I kinda hope Romney will ger back in. It doesn't matter to me whether Americans have health care, own guns, abort thier children, or tax thier poor. These are domestic issues. What impacts on us is whether America is at war, and whether America is financially sound. The last 4 years have proven that Obama is no better than a republican at avoiding or extricating America from war, and I tend to think Romney has the ability to return the us economy to business as usual. What he did for the Massachusetts economy, in the face of an overwhelming democratic congress, was nothing short of a miracle.
So this lefty has two fingers crossed for mitt. But either way, the us has two very solid candidates up for election this time. Whoever gets in, my only hope is they get in with enough votes to actually make something happen.

Hah! That's actually a pretty good analogy for his dnc appearance. The old bastard has still got it. Glides in all smiles and cheeky eyes, winks at the ladies in the front row, finger pistols the VIPs at the back on the way to the mic and then belts out a velvet smooth address before being showered in women's underwear. The old fox has still got it. He's more popular than ever. Neither Obama or Romney hold a fucking candle to Clinton. He's old school politics.Neferti~ wrote:I saw a picture of Bill Clinton which is rather odd.
