He's the junior senator for Ohio. Former lobbyist and chief whitehouse counsel for bush sr, and took some jobs for the boys in Bush Jrs administration too.

Currently senators are voted in but before WWI they were appointed by by state legislators. Each state has 2 and only 2 senators while the number of congressmen depends on state populations so large states like California have an advantage in Congress over let's say Hawaii. But in the US Senate Hawaii has as much pull as California.

Looks like it will be Ryan.
Ryan would be a fantastic veep. Smart guy with lots of ideas that he fully thinks through before putting them forward. Likeable guy. I'm just not sure he's what the Romney ticket needs to win. Not exciting. He's not Rubio.
