I've started eating out/going to a film once a week with some friends. We say we do it to help the economy, but really it's to take our mind off it and off work, which is getting pretty grim.

Does a recession burger have beetroot in it?

If you want it to have beetroot Hebe so it shall ha ha..It was a bit of a giggle triggered by an Eddie Murphy joke I once heard where he said his family was so poor they couldnt afford regular Hungry Jacks burgers like other kids in his street, they had to have" mamas welfare burgers"..

It could be true for many now we are recessed.

I don't think we've got hamburger helper in Australia - wasn't that a product mentioned on the Simpsons? It sounds revolting whatever it is - must be a fake meat or something to thicken meat up.

It's obviously an iconic US "food" product:
Hamburger Helper consists of a starch (most often pasta, but also rice or potatoes) and specially measured dried sauce packets separated in a single box. The consumer browns the hamburger meat in a skillet and then adds water, noodles, milk and the seasoning packet(s) to create the complete dish.
