My laptop died

I have a microsoft surface pro with all the accessories. Very powerful, lots of memory, etc....

Doesn't look like it will compete with a desktop but then again - what can?

Mine is a laptop version with 1TB of memory and 128 RAM... or is it 64...

I certainly don't have 7 Grand to spend on a laptop.

I'd like to get one of the new AMD desktops.
They can have 12 or 16 cores or more!

I have a Toshiba.
She is an old friend.
I keep her off the web because I need her at the pre-windows 10.
I have a few games that will not work on Windows 10, and several rather complicated engineering programs that Windows 10 won't even start.

I don't rightly know how old she is, and at times she shows her age.
But compared to my HP, it's a far better computer.

I'm waiting for the next generation of Windows before I buy another computer.
Windows 10 is a virus.
Sooner or later a better OS will have to be introduced, just as Windows ME was replaced.
Then I'll buy anything but a HP.
I'm thinking Dell, my work computers were all Dell and they all were pretty damn good.

My Toshiba laptop still has Windows 7 but I don't use it any more. The desktop that I had built for me runs Win 8.1 and is still going strong. I have never used Win 10.

I started with Windows 95, way back in August 1995. Then upgraded to Windows ME (didn't bother upgrading to Win 98, or Win 2000, XP or Vista ), then Windows 7. The only time I have changed is with a new computer and I didn't get a choice. LOL

Macs tend to be rock steady machines and this laptop is rock solid.

It is not highly specced but I don't do video editing etc so is adequate.

I just wanted to add that the machine is very fast due to the RISC chip. Wonder if Intel will introduce RISC chips?

RAM is 8GByte, SSD 250GByte.

Using the USB3 port I back the laptop up to an external drive fortnightly.
