I've heard 1 year to 18 months.

Every year we get a vaccine available for up to 4 different types of flu.
We are told that it's the flu that was in the Northern hemisphere over their winter
which is often only 3 to 4 months from when we are inoculated.

So why is a Covid-19 vaccine going to take up to 5 times longer?

You don't understand many things, do you, Bobby? The difference between a known virus and an unknown one is vast. Safety considerations alone mean you require a considerable amount of time between experimentation and general administration. :roll
Brian,
I am not a virologist so I don't know.
Are you?
Is that another qualification you have?
Is it a PhD this time?

Woolies and Coles are opening their stores to seniors this week between the hours of 7.00am and 8.00am. If you fit into this category it's probably wise to stock up. That's IF the stores have any stock.

I went to Coles today and there was barely any vegetables, meat, cereal etc that's on top of all the other things they just don't have.

Woolies and Coles were stripped out yesterday where I live.
I ended up with a packet of corn chips and some biscuits.

You need to find out when they get their deliveries and be there.

I asked and I was told that there is no scheduled time for any deliveries -
they happen at random.

Rubbish. I've spoken to lots of stores and they always tell me and they always know. You need to be proactive.

It's true - the trucks can arrive at any time and the shelves can be restocked at anytime.

I just got back from Coles -
I have never seen any supermarket like that in the world -
it's stripped out of even potatoes and just about everything else you'd want.

I am pissed off.
Only 3 people have died from the new virus -
but
when in a normal flu season 100s of people die from the flu virus yet
now there has been irrational panic over 3 deaths.
I have lost my faith in humanity - people are nothing more than animals -
similar to dogs fighting over a bone.

I've never claimed to be a Viralogist, Bobby. However, I have worked in a school of medical research and I have a general interest in research of all kinds. I have my ear and eyes open and I gather information from many sources. My sister is a Geneticist and we often have very interesting discussions on such topics. Unlike you, I am a broad generalist having worked in many different businesses/environments. I pick up information and I understand processes. I also don't parade my ignorance around like you do. :roll :roll

A research team in Queensland say they are only 10 days away from using a vaccine on humans and in the US the first participant in a clinical trial for a vaccine to protect against the new coronavirus will receive an experimental dose on Monday.

So it's full steam ahead.
