As that is Basketball, what is desired is greater height. She appears to fit that bill rather well, don't you think? Basketball was, the last time I checked a "non-contact" sport. Greater body mass plays little part in how the game is played, Black Orchid. Again, a rare event, I think you'll find and it has been matched by women who are also as tall...

You checked wrong. Basketball is anything but a "non-contact" sport, as anyone from Indiana could have told you. Try pulling down a rebound under the boards and you'll discover that your opponents don't say "please" and "thank you" much.
A (full) contact sport is any sport for which significant physical impact force on players, either deliberate or incidental, is allowed or within the rules of the game.

Examples of contact sports are roller derby, association football, slamball, handball, rugby league, rugby union, American football, Canadian football, water polo, lacrosse, kabaddi, hurling, shinty[3], Australian rules football, ice hockey, wheelchair rugby and Gaelic football. contact sports are roller derby, association football, slamball, handball, rugby league, rugby union, American football, Canadian football, water polo, lacrosse, kabaddi, hurling, shinty[3], Australian rules football, ice hockey, wheelchair rugby and Gaelic football.

Limited-contact sports are sports for which the rules are specifically designed to prevent contact between players either intentionally or unintentionally. Contact can still happen, but penalties are often used to disallow substantial contact between players. These penalties, including physically removing players from the field of play, mean that contact is moderate or rare.

Examples include basketball, association football, baseball, softball, field hockey, women's lacrosse, netball, korfball, Floorball, polo, ultimate, bandy, dodgeball and underwater hockey.

Ah ah ah ... not so fast!

You originally called basketball a NON-CONTACT sport.

Then you provided a definition of LIMITED-CONTACT sport.

You surely didn't think I'd fail to notice your rather amateurish attempt at moving the goal posts, did you? http://www.idioms4you.com/img/angif-mov ... ts-def.gif

And by the way, why did you express baseball like that? Did you forget so soon that you were originally talking about basketball? :oops

Wikipedia has introduced - because American medicos have introduced a difference between "contact", "limited contact" and "non-contact" sports. It didn't exist before.

As for me highlighting Baseball, not sure what happened there. I'm sure I highlighted Basketball. Something odd going on there. No intentional effort to "move the goal posts". Basketball is still IMO classified as a "non-contact" sport.

Now, how about addressing the point, rather than quibbling about it? Basketball is a non-contact sport. Body mass plays little part in it's play, according to the rules of the game.

Come on, Wikipedia is whatever anybody on the internet wants it to be when they edit it. I would no more take its word at face value than I would yours.

Well, your IMO and $5 will get you a cup of chocolate mocha latte at your average Starbucks. Basketball is classified as a limited-contact sport, not a non-contact sport.

True non-contact sports include golf, bowling, diving, badminton, bocce ball, Frisbee, and Olympic shooting -- unless, of course, you step in front of the target. But not basketball.

Well, that was never my point, Emperor of Eyeroll. I was simply opining on whether or not basketball is a non-contact sport.

But if you really want to go there, especially with a native Hoosier, I'm more than happy to dabble in whatever hoops quandary is racking your brain at the moment.

So let's see ... if you seriously think body mass plays little part in the game of basketball, I invite you to watch this video of old game highlights involving one Shaquille O'Neal, He was 7-foot-1 and weighed 325 pounds when he played in the National Basketball Association (that's 2.16 m and 147 kg for all you metric fans!).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiMnOSTJtIk

I rather doubt that anybody who ever had to guard Shaq for an entire game went away thinking basketball was a non-contact sport -- or that body mass played little part in it. Especially when they woke up the next morning.

Possibly, even probably. It is unusual for me to screw up like that, that's all.

How about the $Au300 to fly to Melbourne/Sydney/Brisbane to purchase it? There are no Starbucks near where I live, 4e and anyway, they don't serve that sort of muck downunder.

There you go again, shitting on Americans. You have made what, 2 or 3 thousand posts on this board? Could you show me 1 - just 1 - that is even vaguely positive about America as a country or American's as a people?

Brian should move to a Muslim country ... he is anti-Australian, anti-American and anti-British.

Unless one is critical of Islam.

Then you instantly become a racist islamophobe.

Isn't that right bwyannnnnnnnnn?

A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.

This is what you have linked me to, Brian:
I like most people, including most Americans, even Republican voters
There is no evidence of that in your posts. Zip. Zero. Nada.

Just saying it does not make it so. I had to explain to Brad what a "Septic Tank" meant, thanks to you.
