Tex, I think some cultures are smarter because they place different priorities on different things.

Even poor uneducated asians are good at math because it's built into their culture and they just do maths from a young age.

Studying 18 hours out of 24 to get higher marks doesn't make you 'smarter'.

It depends on your definition of smarter. Does getting an education make you more smart? Can smart be defined as having knowledge and understanding of useful information or is it just intelligence?

My 25 year old seems more intelligent than me, but I can beat him with education and experience every time.

Look at the school results - Australia is falling way behind:

Alarm bells': Australian students record worst result in global tests

Australian students have recorded their worst results in international tests, failing for the first time to exceed the OECD average in maths while also tumbling down global rankings in reading and science.

The results were particularly bad for NSW, which recorded the country's biggest drop in both reading and science over the period since Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) tests began in the early 2000s. The state also recorded significant declines in mathematics.

Since 2003, Australia's results in maths have declined further than any country but Finland. Compared with the top-performer, Singapore, the students who sat the test last year were three years behind in maths, a year and three months behind in reading, and a year and nine months behind in scientific literacy.

Money is not the answer' to address poor student results

03/12/2019|7min

Queensland Shadow Tourism Minister David Crisafulli says "money is not the answer" to address reports of Australian student's failing performance.

Australian students are falling years behind the rest of the world in numeracy and literacy, according to the 2018 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) report.

The performance of Australian students in mathematics and science have fallen to the nation's lowest ever level.

"More money has not fixed the problem that we've seen in health and education in Indigenous communities and the same applies to our education system," Mr Crisafulli told Sky News host Paul Murray.

This is definitely an appalling situation but it doesn't mean that Asians are smarter overall. However, it does mean that Asians are far too clever to allow their education system to be hijacked and overrun by leftard minority 'talking points' to the detriment of a true and meaningful education.

We need to get back to basics before it's too late.

Stereotypes aren't in stone and much of the differences are cultural. The people who work harder tend to do better.

My youngest son's girlfriend's parents immigrated from Nigeria about 20 years ago. She is smarter than my son. Her dad is an engineer, her mom is a teacher, and they are devoutly Christian and very disciplined.

I have friends from Kenya. He was a Baptist preacher going to seminar and his wife was working as a nurse in a nursing home. Their children grew up to be doctors and lawyers. They lived well within their means and the children knew how to work and study. My friend is back in Kenya and he started a school there. His kids stayed in America.

Our Govts have spent more money for poorer results.

Who knows what the PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) is? Anyone?

I dont think being a leftie has any relevance on whether a teacher is good at teaching or not!

I am not sure why we are falling behind, perhaps Australian kids are being reared by lazy parents that dont push their kids to get better results as the Asians seem to do.

It seems to be a puzzle to all Australian governments state and federal despite how much money they throw at the sector.

I think one of the issues raised, is the reluctance of kids to persue the STEM subjects and then studying Law at university rather than Science. Even more stupid as there is an abundance of law graduates apparently.

All to hard for an old blighter like me I am afraid!
