Re: Night Owls Chit Chat
August is our hottest month of the year. We’ve had a very mild Summer until the last 3 weeks. Our current temperatures are pretty typical for August.
In 1980, we had 70 consecutive days of 100+F days. The previous Winter, we had ice storms and the tree in front of our house split down the middle from the weight of the ice. Texas weather is all over the place.

Sounds hotter than here but I am on the coast with lower temps in Summer than many areas of Aus!! It's around 20 C or 68 F right now and suits me just fine although Spring begins here on 1st September and then on comes the start of the heat and the fires etc.

It was 3C when I got up this morning and is currently 10C. It won't warm up here in Canberra until about November.*** We have even had sleet and the heating on at Christmas. February is our hottest month.
As some wise person wrote, many years ago, "Canberra is cold for 10 months of the year and then 2 months it is like living in a Brickworks". I rarely go out in the midday sun, only mad dogs and Englishmen to that.
*** Summer begins on 1 December.

I would have thought it would have been a little earlier than that

Re: Night Owls Chit Chat
So I just found out that my son is doing a big solo during his school's marching band show this year. He does a quick costume change and climbs on top of a 2 1/2 meter platform to do his saxophone solo while the rest of the band is still marching. He'll do this at every football game and marching band competition for the entire season. I'm kind of excited to see the band for a change. Forget the football game. That's the pre band and post band show.
When they finish learning the complete show, I'll find a video and link it. It'll be a few weeks.
Here is their show from last year.
