The USA is further encircling China with military bases. The newest is Saipan. Think Australia isn't a part of this?

The US don’t trust Australia’s intel right now, and have stopped sending intel to ASIO due to what the CIA believe to be negligence on our behalf re-cable leaks.

Problem is, Obama like Rudd is only too happy to sleep with the perceived/potential enemy....for the right price.

Both Americas and Australia’s leaders are of concern.

Truman would be horrified, I think.

Future is only in Asia of you just want to rely on selling raw resources to buy them back when Asia adds the value.

Australia needs to invest in things that promote and reward innovation. If you want to make it big, leave ... because.... for example the USA patent and IP laws reward innovation. They has investors for startups ...etc.

Australia is not ready to be republic until it loses the Tall Poppy Syndrome, where everyone is allowed to do OK but not make it too big. In America success is calibrated. In Australia it get torn down mostly.
Always remember what you post, send or do on the internet is not private and you are responsible.

Happy to keep the syndrome... because it keep big heads humble if we were like America Anthony Mundine would be treated like a star instead of the dope he is.

Government is largely to blame for our lethargy in the invention area... they allow inventions and discoveries to be bought and transferred overseas.

We are pound for pound the most inventive country on the planet. A quick history check will back that up.

Who invented; the stump-jump plough, the fridge, torpedo, aspro, ute, Penicillan, Hills hoist, Victor Mower, the black box, bionic ear, gene shears, Gardasil...
Australia has always been an inventive place. The Aborigines showed a mastery of physics to create hunting equipment like the boomerang and woomera. Likewise, Convicts showed a great capacity to think outside the square to evade capture, attempt escape or to steal. On one occasion, a Convict decided to disguise himself as a Kangaroo so the barking guard dogs would not seem suspicious. The plan was working brilliantly until a trooper decided to use the Kangaroo for target practice.

The legacy of these foundations is a culture of pragmatic decision making that although sometimes leads to hair-brain ideas, usually show great resourcefulness and adaptability.
Try google or look here for starters
