(note the very last bottom bit)
Sorry Arsly, but someone had to spell it out to you, it might as well be Gillard herself.

And lets not forget Peter Garret who in the 1984 federal election stood for the Australian Senate under the Nuclear Disarmament Party banner.
Dr Evil, is that you?

Politicians, like everyone else, change and evolve. Of course, some people only pretend to evolve while actually the change is only cosmetic. Politicians are masters at this - changing positions to benefit themselves.

Yes - politicians do evolve - but they're often voted for because of their reputation. Many of us believed Garrett would follow through on his activist songs, but he crumpled within 5 minutes of his appointment. Latham would have been disappointed - although in retrospect if Latham had won - he might have kicked him off his backside and made him do his job properly.
Then there's Gillard. Many of us believed she would put education at the forefront of her policies - there was no indication she would do otherwise. Now she's pro-nuclear - that is the biggest concern of all.
I can understand Rudd being dirty on her. His staff might have been hated him, but who cares. Although he didn't appear to have much stamina or conviction after the first year - he was the people's choice.
I think we've gone beyond remaining faithful to our parties. The politicians who promoted an ideology have lied to us - not just small lies, but whoppers that are changing the whole direction of this country and not for the better.
