THE premiers of NSW and Victoria have written to Julia Gillard demanding the Prime Minister use her industrial relations powers to put an end to industrial action against Qantas.

It's sad that supposedly professional people are so hopeless at spelling and compiling a grammatical sentence. Perhaps it's unimportant to Gen X and Y as they don't appear to have had the same quality of education that the baby boomers took for granted. When my children were at school - even though they were good spellers, teachers would often incorrectly mark a word as misspelt which would always necessitate a visit or a note of complaint just on principle.

Good written and oral English seems to have become a thing of the past.

The trouble is Mantra, it's getting harder and harder to demand high standards these days....partly due to a marked deterioration in journalism itself, and outrageous bureaucracy and either too much or not enough regulation.
Because if you hurt their feelings, or threaten to sack them, they go off on stress leave and demand compo...this and scream workplace harassment/discrimination.

Gone are the days when a chief editor could tell it like it is and put forth his honest opinion, this and demand sub-editors , writers lift their game or else.

We are just so precious, and it spans across most workplaces these days.
