Trip Adelaide—Gladstone

Post by Jovial Monk » Mon Aug 22, 2011 7:42 pm

Will be driving to Lefty’s joint in October. Hope to visit Murrumbidgee Irrigation area to buy some wine, Hunter Valley ditto (if there are any wineries left!) then coast road, NSW/Qld, Terrigal, Gold & Surfers Coast then up North.

Any animals along that way? Aussie, Mantra, DeepshiT. . .any others?

Assumes my 28yo car can make it all the way there and back. Might return via Broken Hill & White Sands but you never know, maybe return via Darwin & Uluhru?

Any suggestions obscene or otherwise?

Going outback in an old car may not be the safest plan. But the trip sounds like a fun adventure monk even without the extra bits.

Yeah, I know, car is a tad old tho hasn't had that much use, only about 135K on the clock so in some ways not that old. Won't take it into the wilds! But see what I can do within that constraint.

Ford telstar. Cost me $1000 :bgrin Will tide me until I can get at my super next year. Is very comfy, lot of space inside. Suspension, transmission, engine all in pretty good nick, inside is very clean. Tends to be rough idling/taking off and I will get the local Ford place to put a new distributor cap on it which should fix that pretty much (have done reading on this, was a popular car in its day.) 135K on the clock.

Being so old, I have to add lead substitute when filling up and it has a manual choke.

I could stop in Terrigal on the way up and have a cup of tea with Mantra somewhere?

SP posted then deleted a PM to me.

If it was Mantra not the lying C unt then please do get in touch, here or on my board and preferably, very preferably as Mantra not Shared Puppet.

But I reckon it would be fun to actually meet over a cup of coffee or something.
