http://www.sustain2green.com/2011/04/ru ... kyoto.htmlRussia and Japan reject new Kyoto Protocol targets. U.S., China and India may also reject the same
Kyoto Protocol’s current goals expire in 2012. Efforts are on to make sure that the new targets are in place and are acceptable to the member nations. However, Russia and Japan have already rejected the new targets as disclosed by U.N. Climate Change Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres.
Russia and Japan have rejected the new targets saying that unless the targets become binding for the two biggest emitters U.S. and China the treaty becomes meaningless.
U.S. never ratified the treaty.
Hence it is most likely that the biggest five emitters U.S. , China, Russia , Japan and India will not adhere to the new targets and there would not be much left to the Kyoto Protocol.
