Water Rights to What Cost

Post by HIGHERBEAM » Wed Oct 27, 2010 6:12 am

Do we need to regulate every day things as water. We have water controls in place every where, even though dams are at record high?

We have governments telling farmers that they cant have water to feed Australia because the greens say so.Just look at their misinformation on global warming and its effects

Governments tell farmers if they can build dams on their own properties and then charge them for having dams to feed Australia.

Governments charge ordinary Australians for the right to put in water tanks.

Who owns water Mother Nature or Governments?

This has been a concern for me for a while.

I think it definitely should not be private enterprise.

It needs to be centrally managed and owned by the people.

Water is the most important thing for human life (beside oxygen) and in the future will probably be the most valuable asset on the planet when we over populate, change the pattern of weather and realise what is really important. private enterprise realises this and are trying to buy up supply to make a fortune in the future.

So i think it ineeds to be government owned and managed. the arguement that dams should be taxed because you caught the water that could be used downstream or go into the water table is an interesting one. Who owns the water the falls or flows on to my land. If water is owned by all (via the government) then it could be argued that it should be paid for.

Is now the right time for such laws, probably not. Will it be required in the distant future. i think so.

Compared to the records set in the past decade, yours pales into insignificance.

Get this "to feed Australia" stuff out of your head. The big water use crops like rice, cotton and wine are grown mostly for export.

Are you disputing that most irrigation water is used for export crops?
