Greens deputy leader Mehreen Faruqi marched into the Senate on Monday and announced that floods killing over 1,300 people in Nepal were pure "climate racism" cooked up by rich white men, capitalism and colonialism. She managed to burn through her entire five minute allocation without uttering the word China a single time. Despite Beijing emitting 32% of the world's fossil carbon, Faruqi demanded domestic cuts while ignoring China's record coal pipeline.

The tragedy kicked off with a glacier collapse on Langtang Lirung on 26 August. Nepal has clocked 1,355 dead and 4,996 missing, while right across the mountain range in Tibet, China claims a modest 43 dead and 519 missing.
