I think that it is a bit of both, with Huxley's dystopian world view being better realized than Orwell's.

Don't take this as a criticism of you ~ but like that bloke who commented on companies, both Orwell and Huxley do much the same....present a critique of 'life' as they saw it at the time, rather than do that AND present a practical alternative.

I suppose, given the history of mankind, there really is no magic wand and we meander pillar to post from time to time.
