Raptor cops take in Hamzy brother
MARK MORRI
A SENIOR member of the Hamzy family has been arrested by officers from the Raptor Squad after he allegedly breached a Serious Crime Prevention Order.
Heavily armed police attended the home of Ghasson Amoun, previously known as Ghasson Hamzy, in Sydney‘s southwest on Thursday morning as part of an operation targeting members of the Allameddine and Hamzy warring crime gangs.
Over the past 12 months the two groups are believed to have been involved in a number of shootings and murders.
Amoun, 35, has not been connected to any of those incidents but was issued with a Serious Crime Prevention Order last December.
Amoun is the younger sibling of Bassam Hamzy (pictured), the founder of the deadly street gang Brothers for Life.
Bassam is currently in Goulburn maximum security jail where he is serving 40 years for murder, drug dealing and other crimes
It was alleged in court earlier this year Amoun could be the target of an attempt on his life.
“Officers attached to Raptor Squad executed a Firearm Prohibition Order at a home in southwest Sydney just after 7am,” police said on Thursday.
“During a subsequent search of the home officers identified a mobile phone allegedly containing two encrypted messaging services.”
Police will forensically examine the phone to see if they can gain information from the encrypted applications.
In February, Amoun was also charged with breaching Serious Crime Prevention orders but granted bail.

I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream
