The White House has been forced into damage control after President Joe Biden seemingly forgot the name of his own Defense Secretary during an event to mark International Women's Day.

Speaking after unveiling two more nominees to fill his cabinet, the president failed to remember the name of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

“And I want to thank the sec — the, the, ah former general. I keep calling him general, but my, my — the guy who runs that outfit over there,” President Biden said.

The stumble comes as Republicans and members of the White House press gallery criticised President Biden for not holding a solo press conference since his inauguration.

The historic role of Washinghton had thus been reversed, and the Americans would have to defend their record against Beijing's criticisms.

The most shocking thing about the sessions was the failure of American preparation for the Chinese assault. The top two representatives from Washington sat mutely by as the Chinese humiliation dragged on. The U.S. response came a day later and was at a far lower level than Beijing's opening critique of Biden's foreign policy.

The US political administration is starting to become the “Weekend at Bidens”, starring the “barely cogent” Joe Biden, according to Sky News host Cory Bernardi.

“You may recall that film (Weekend at Bernie’s) involved a couple of losers pretending their dead boss was actually still alive so they could enjoy his beach house and his extravagant lifestyle for a weekend,” Mr Bernardi said.

“Now we have ‘Weekend at Bidens’, it’s the reality show where the Democrats put up a barely cogent candidate for President just so they could enjoy the spoils of office for four years”.

“It features an all-star cast of the politically semi-lucid, headlined by Joe Biden himself.”

Mr Bernardi said the plot is “pretty simple”: a “trio of near octogenarians” seize control of the most powerful nation in the world while “not having any idea what they are doing”.

“The star of the show – Joe Biden – walks and talks, but the walking is a bit worrying while the talking is often total gibberish,” he said.

“This main star even has to ask his carer/wife where he is when he wakes up most mornings”.

“His side kick, crazy Nancy uses her substantial wealth to hoard ice cream in her $24,000 dollar freezer. Unfortunately, Nancy's ice-cream prepping fetish induces a form of weekend post-binge brain freeze from which she seems unable to escape”.

“The third character is Chuck Schumer.”

Behind this “lacklustre trio” is “cackling Kamala”, who is the most "lucid character in the entire script" and "plots to seize power for herself", according to Mr Bernardi.

“We are only a few episodes into this four-year premier season of ‘Weekend at Bidens’, but already the audience seems to be losing interest,” he said.

“Unfortunately for all of us watching, it’s easy to see how this is all going to end.”
