Seeing as "leftard" is a derogatory term, then by definition, any country worth a piece of shit wouldn't be one. Eh.

There are however plenty of countries, including all the best secular democracies, that have a decided socialist components to their basic government functions. Capitalism works best with a good smattering of socialism thrown in.

i would imagine there is no completely hard nosed right wing led country in the world.
singapore has no unemployment benefit i believe.

sure some degree of "social conscience" is warranted. education and health care gives a good return on investment
but handouts should be very cautiously done. many handouts in reality encourages the behaviour that is detrimental.

Indeed, unemployment benefits should start out high enough to be comfortable, but get lower over time, until they do get to poverty levels, to give an incentive to get out there again. And throw those baby bonus hand outs in the bin too, they just encourage the breeders. People should want their children, not a wad of cash compensation.
