The Islamic Republic of Iran, member of UN Women board, has just rejected a parliamentary motion to ban child marriage for under 13-yr-old girls. Each year ,more than 300 girls under 9, and 40.000 girls under 13 yrs old marry in Iran.
An estimated 12 million girls under 18 are married each year. Girls who marry before they turn 18 are less likely to remain in school and more likely to experience domestic violence.

The Islamic run UN is a farce and should be disbanded. It's nothing even close to its original intent.

The UN is not run by Islamic nations. It is run by all nations which are members. If you feel that Muslims have an unfair advantage, contact the Minister for Foreign Affairs and tell her to extract her digit and do something about it. Might it not be that you are all so Islamophobic that you are afraid of any Muslim having any position of influence, anywhere?

When the UN was formed it became very quickly a club for the big boys - the US, the fUSSR, UK, France and to a lesser extent, ROC. It basically still is. They provide the majority of funds and have the vetos in the Security Council which is the real power base in the UN. The General Assembly? WOFTAM. The Ancillary organisations? A necessary part of the UN which actually does all the real work of the organisation. You people appear to get upset at the idea of the Muslims controlling the General Assembly. Who cares? It is a powerless organisation.
