My personal politics
I believe I am very much just to the left of centre in my political views. I don't believe in Communism. I support Socialism (and yes there is a difference between the two). I am more of a Fabian Socialist. I believe in a mixed-economy, with society providing a social safety net for those in need, an adequate old age pension, socialised medicine and help for the disabled. Free education at all levels, for all. We need to protect the poor, the environment and of course, ourselves with a strong defence force. We need to protect workers' rights and allow Unions to flourish. I believe in allowing free enterprise to flourish with adequate taxation and regulation to support it all. I know this all runs counter to what you believe I believe in, Black Orchid but hey, them's the breaks.
Now I've put my political views on the table. lets see yours. That is if you're brave enough to tell us.

Nope. Not going to do that. I believe such "quizzes" invariable take a too rigid view of such matters and try and funnel respondents into what the quiz masters feel is representational of political belief, Neferti. I note that, that quiz has several questions about "race" - a concept I do not believe in and when I refuse to answer those questions, it refuses to allow me to advance to the next page. It also has questions about religion - something I am not overly concerned about personally.
How about you tell us what you believe in personally, instead?

I believe in as small of a government as possible. Too little government would be anarchy, but I think a national government should ideally have absolutely no direct interaction with an individual unless they are a government employee. I think government should be as close as possible to the people.
I think charity is far better than welfare. People were more likely to give to others when the government doesn't already confiscate your income to give to others. People giving to charity and helping others is good for the morality and sanity of people. Forced government redistribution is soulless and contributes to people not caring for others. Forced government redistribution also invites the poor and lazy from all over the world. If immigrants were forced to take care of themselves, they wouldn't be much of a problem for citizens.
I think people should be held responsible for their actions and their actions alone(violating the rights of others) are the only thing that should be used against them to limit their rights and freedoms.

So, what does that translate to as far as political beliefs mean to you?

MY political beliefs? To be quite honest, I only vote because I have to. The only reason I am still here is because of some of the posters, you feel that you know them after 10+ years. Besides, I have nothing much else to do so I pop in here when TV gets boring and .....brian ross wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 1:56 pmSo, what does that translate to as far as political beliefs mean to you?

Why do you come here?

I come here 'cause it amuses me to come here, Neferti just as it does you. However, I have a serious interest in politics. Is is literally, the best game in town. Endlessly amusing and endlessly entertaining. That doesn't mean I cannot, unlike you, explain what I believe in though. So what do you believe in? Even Tex has managed that task and quite well, I admit. You? You're a mystery, Neferti.Neferti~ wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 5:36 pmMY political beliefs?
