This is a podcast program that is also on ABC local radio at 11am every day
Great one hour interviews with very interesting people
Often hosted by Richard Fidler
This particular episode I found fascinating to listen to
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tony Sheldon was born into a well-known Australian showbusiness family.
His mother was stage star Toni Lamond and his aunt was singer Helen Reddy.
At 12, after a family tragedy, Tony was sent to boarding school for the rest of his teens.
When he left the school, he told his mum he wanted to follow her into showbusiness, news she wasn't happy to hear.
After three decades in theatre, Tony was living from job to job, without much stability or happiness, when in his fifties, he was cast as Bernadette in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, The Musical.
He's now played the role nearly 2000 times on stages around the world.

Archie Roach: turning spirit into song
Widely admired for his powerful lyrics and the grace of his pin-drop performances, Archie has overcome blow after blow throughout his life.
He was just two years old when he was taken from his Aboriginal mother and given to the Cox family to raise.
His foster family brought him up with love, in a house filled with music. But when he discovered the truth about his birth family, Archie's world shattered.
Years later, his song, Took the Children Away, would become an anthem for the Stolen Generations.
As a teenager, Archie found his way to the streets, where he found solace in alcohol, and eventually, met his great love, Ruby Hunter.
So many of the stories of Archie's life have become songs, starting with his debut hit record, Charcoal Lane (produced by Paul Kelly), and they're listened to all over the world.
Writing and performing have helped Archie endure many sorrows, as well as celebrate the strength of his culture.
Along with multiple awards for his music, Archie is a Member of the Order of Australia, and is the 2020 Victorian Australian of the Year.

Re: Conversations -
Another great episode of Conversations interviewing William Robinson famous Australian Artist and dual Archibald Prize winner, he struck me as a very unassuming modest type of person who often made jokes at his own expense....

Postcards from God — artist William Robinson
William Robinson was born in Brisbane in 1936, to an accountant and a WWI veteran.
His grandfather loved to paint so he grew up with art as a part of the family.
In 1953 William saw an exhibition at the Queensland Art Gallery called "French Painting Today" which had a huge impact on him.
As a young man he came to recognise painting as his vocation and he began to develop his distinctive style.
He drew on elements from his everyday life for his subject matter.
William's style evolved and changed as he and his family moved from a small suburban farm at Birkdale, to the Gold Coast hinterland rainforest, to the beachside town of Kingscliff, then to a Brisbane house with a tropical garden.
